SimQuest is developed in the SERVIVE project. The SERVIVE project was sponsored by the European Commission under the 4th framework program. In the project the focus was on guided discovery learning with computer simulations.

The project developed:
For learners: Learning environments that combine a computer simulation and 'cognitive tools'. Cognitive tools are software instruments that support the learner in the discovery learning process. For example, tools that help the learner to make an adequate planning.
For authors: A development environment (authoring tool) for creating learning environments that combine simulation and cognitive tools for learners.
